Question:
For people with serious mental illness, how effective are information and communication technology-based prompting for treatment compliance, compared to any other intervention / no intervention, for increasing treatment compliance?
Answer:
There was a lack of evidence supporting the use of ICT-based
prompts in increasing medication compliance in adults with serious
mental illness. Only one, moderate quality trial was found which
found no significant difference between ICT-based prompts (text
messaging) and standard care for medication compliance, regardless
of how it was measured. More good quality research in this area is
needed.
